Beyond the Rush
Robert Sayegh
Samuel Grievess — a rising investigative journalist now demoted to covering the gossip column — is a high-functioning addict who finds himself at a crossroads dealing with cascading mental health issues, childhood traumas, a failing career, and the pressures of starting a family.

When he receives a secret tip that Judge Joy, from his damaged past, is suspected of deviant sexual acts within the juvenile court system, church, and community, Samuel goes undercover and rogue, returning to his old neighborhood.

He follows the judge’s ongoing trail of criminal behavior with the hopes of proving himself professionally and filling the internal void he experienced as a boy when his mother, Leah, was institutionalized for schizophrenia and delusional identity.

His mother’s abandonment plus a gnawing sense of isolation haunts Samuel’s path to redemption — echoing through the tensions in his loving present-day relationships with his childhood sweetheart, now wife Tristan, his brother Peter, his friend-emy, Teddy, and his boss , Edward Clayborn, as his once compartmentalized life cracks wide open from his growing obsession to administer not only justice but, also, vengeance.

These tensions build to a frenzied crescendo that’s beyond the rush and, possibly, beyond repair…
Land of the Mustaches
Leon Joosen
For the children and women of all wars, it never leaves.

Land of the Mustaches is an autobiographical story of a young girl growing up in the Displaced Persons refugee camps with her mother and grandmother after World War Two left them starving and stateless, and her father's disappearance into Stalin's notorious Gulag labor camps in Siberia with only what he was wearing the day he was abducted—two hard paths that parallel each other until they finally merge into one story: The ultimate celebration of resilience and the human spirit.

Noted film critic Rex Reed said, "I found your film to be so tender and truthful and honest ... It is constantly mesmerizing."
Our film is a visual memoir told through rich and real vignettes, heightened by archival footage and animation, illuminating how inter-generational, female family life persists and humans persevere even in the most extreme circumstances: In 1947, there were still about a million refugees in the Displaced Persons camps of occupied Europe; there are over a hundred million globally today. The mind struggles to comprehend such numbers, but the story of one family is recognizable. In our seemingly endless wars, the plight of their voiceless victims--families stripped of everything, women and children left on their own with no support, left bereft--is just as true today as it was 80 years ago when I grew up in the rubble and converted concentration camps.
Rattlesnake Point
Alberto Diamante

The Tree With No Heart
Aaron Huckleberry
In war-torn Syria, a troubled woman, her idealistic son, and her mentally challenged cousin take in a wounded Western aid worker, unknowingly igniting a chain of deadly consequences that forces them to confront their pasts, their beliefs, and the brutal realities of survival.
Hollywood analysis extracts:
¨This script is an emotional gut punch. The climax is a raw, cathartic unraveling. The final tableau of all ghosts unburied but unhealed is unforgettable. Few scripts demonstrate this degree of emotional depth .¨
¨The tonal control of this screenplay is extraordinary. It walks a tightrope between tenderness and terror, between meditative lyricism and brutal realism. The script understands the emotional and spiritual contradictions of its setting, and it never resorts to melodrama or moralizing.¨
¨A rare and powerful screenplay—sensitive, courageous, and quietly revelatory. It delivers the kind of intimate, slow-burn emotional drama that transcends borders and speaks to human decency in its rawest form.¨

Soul slasher
curtis W harrison
Soul Slasher is a gritty, emotionally charged revenge thriller following Darius Whitaker, a man
shaped by childhood trauma and systemic failure. After witnessing his abusive stepfather
brutalize his mother in 1970s Detroit, young Darius endures a life-altering tragedy that leaves him
emotionally mute. Years later, he commits a violent act defending a pregnant woman, resulting
in a life sentence. Decades into his imprisonment, news of his mother’s murder ignites a burning
desire for vengeance.
Darius escapes prison and embarks on a brutal crusade against abusers, targeting those the
justice system failed to stop. He adopts a chilling clown persona—a twisted homage to the toy he
once clung to as a boy—leaving a trail of creatively horrific murders, always accompanied by 70s
soul music. As the city reels, public opinion is split: some view him as a monster, others as a
vigilante hero.
Haunted by the ghost of his mother and a past he cannot escape, Darius confronts his ultimate
abuser—his stepfather—in a final act of catharsis. His bloody path ends in a climactic shootout
with police, but his legacy lingers. The film explores cycles of violence, justice, and the thin line
between savior and psychopath

Safe Word
Haley Biggins
Chloe is a journalist in her senior year of college when she receives the opportunity of a lifetime to join a writer’s workshop in Virginia. She packs up her bags and leaves New Jersey to start this new and exciting journey. Chloe thinks she lucked out by finding a guest house for her stay on a huge farmland, but she quickly learns there is nothing lucky about it.
Luke is the charming, narcissistic host who welcomes Chloe to her new temporary housing. Although they have instant chemistry, Chloe can’t help but shake her nerves about him. Luke is the sheriff of the small town; everybody knows him, and everybody loves him. Turns out Chloe arrived at a wild time, because Luke and his recent break-up with Emily is the talk of the town. However, this isn’t your normal break-up... Emily is missing and the ones closest to her are starting to grow suspicious.
Shortly during Chloe’s stay, she gets terrifyingly haunted – things are happening to her that only happen in your worst kind of nightmares. Eventually, this scary omen comes to light and she’s not so scary after all – it’s Emily, and she needs Chloe’s help.
From here the story is told in a voice-over by Emily as she takes us through her and Luke’s relationship. We live through the night they met, how beautiful and passionate their love was – but we quickly learn it wasn’t always butterflies and rainbows. We watch as Emily and Luke’s relationship becomes dangerously abusive.
July 4th was the night Emily began packing her bags to leave, only she didn’t make it out of the house. Luke viciously murdered Emily and buried her body in his large woodland farm.
Nobody would ever suspect the highly respected town sheriff of doing such a thing, so it is now up to Chloe to find Emily’s body and serve her justice. There is only one thing standing in her way - Luke.
Safe Word is a script that will make you feel every emotion from fear to laughter, while keeping you on edge until you learn how Emily’s story will end.

College In Prison: Life With The Possibility Of Transformation
Jennifer Molina
Taking college courses had been going on for decades in California prisons, but in 2016, California State University Los Angeles became the first college to offer bachelor’s degrees to people in prison.
Now, eight of the state’s 34 adult prisons have started or are soon to begin partnerships that award four-year degrees, making California a leader in expanding college degree programs into the state’s prisons.
The trend touches only a sliver of incarcerated people, however. While California incarcerates about 95,600 people in its prison system, about 230 enrolled in the fall in a bachelor’s degree program. For the four men whose stories are told in this documentary, just the chance to earn the degree made it possible for them to see themselves living a different life outside of prison. Three ultimately got their sentences commuted. The fourth was paroled.

Becoming tells a story of how we can emerge from a difficult time: better, stronger, and fully realized. Much like the phoenix, this story begins in darkness and ends in a fiery flight of sonorous bliss.
Created with support from the Saint Petersburg Arts Alliance, this project sought to bring together different forms of local Saint Pete based art with a focus on the performing arts. The film was shot in an abandoned bus depot that was adorned with artwork that celebrated the queer community during a time when state leaders were actively passing legislation to oppress such groups. Under the direction of Domenico Pontoriero, the production crew consisted of Caleb Baker as dancer and choreographer, Zach Moore of Coastal Creative as cinematographer, and Candice Stokes of LittleBull4You as stylist.
