Dragoon Feature
Andri Elia Elia
In the Worldmaker Palace on the Planet Yand, a small boy, DRACE, is having a seizure as his anxious parents and siblings watch the medical staff administer aid. On Yand’s moon Yenda, the Palace at Tradewell burns, as another small boy, REL, huddles with his sister covered in soot, having been brought forth from the inferno.
To help her son control his debilitating episodes, Yanara brings Drace to her father, THE DRAGON OF YAND, for training in magic. The dragon gifts him Lavender’s egg. In time, Drace and Lavender become skilled and powerful. YANARA appoints Drace as leader of the planet’s Mage Force. His epilepsy is under control.
Intergalactic invaders, the K’tul, led by the demon-mage who torments Drace’s dreams, attack the world’s military outpost on the moon Ios. Rel serves his crown-prince tour of duty there. He teleports the outpost’s survivors to safety while Drace, empathically connected to Rel, seizes. Yanara brings the survivors to her home’s infirmary, and Drace and Rel meet. They become inseparable.
Yanara destroys the demon’s spaceship, builds planetary shields, and the world lives eight years of peace. Drace and Rel develop romantic feelings for each other, but Drace is hesitant to allow himself to embrace them. Frustrated tension builds between them.
The K’tul breach the planetary shield and attack Yand and Yenda. For the first time in eight years, Drace and Rel are separated. Drace feels Rel’s absence keenly as he leads the aerial defense against the enemy spaceships. Without Rel, his seizure disorder threatens to overwhelm him.
During the battle, Asimia unlocks her worldmaker powers, causing a null between herself and her mother, which results in the world’s protective shields to fail. The K’tul attack with their full power, burning, destroying. Drace senses the presence of the demon, but Rel tells him that he’s on Yenda. Yanara recovers from the null, bends the sun, and with that energy, she destroys the K’tul spaceships. However, a large grounded K’tul Force remains.
Asimia wormholes Drace to the moon, where the demon targets Rel’s baby cousins, the Yendal royal children, in order to lure Drace. Drace and Rel battle the demon with magic in a deadly confrontation and kill the demon, but not before killing the babies and mortally wounding Rel. Sensing his approaching death, Rel confesses his love to Drace.
Asimia transports Drace and Rel to the moon Tuncay, where Yanara now lives to avoid nulling (and killing) her daughter. Yanara heals Rel with a bend, and Asimia reveals that she had rescued the Yendal royal children and left behind a glamour to fool the demon. Drace and Rel happily reunite the babies.
In the closing scene, a month later, Drace and Rel, now a couple, decide to live on Tuncay near Drace’s parents. Rel abdicated his claim to the throne of Yenda to be with his love, and Drace overcame his fears to allow himself to love and be loved.

The Louisiana Swamp - Perceptions, Realities and Hope
David P. Glatz, Shiela P. Glatz
Common perceptions and media depictions of the swamp ecosystem usually portray a dark, dank place filled with monsters. It's described as a place of death. Our film acknowledges these negative impressions and aims to dispel them by showcasing some of the area’s stunning fauna and unique flora. The film presents factual details of species and habitat, and refutes several false myths, legends and rumors targeting specific species.
We highlight the following families/species in the film:
Herons;
Alligator;
Barred Owl;
Cypress;
Spanish Moss; and
Egrets.
The film features a “Threats to the Swamp” segment focused on pollution - both the large-scale industrial type and the simple, but just as dangerous, individual-level littering and carelessness.
Our film concludes with a message of hope, illustrated by lovely sunset scenes.

DYNAMICS
Teo Baehler
DYNAMICS (Frozen Movements) is an experimental, dreamy and surreal stop-motion film, created using everyday materials. The film offers a visual reflection on transformations that emerge through the intuitive blending of dissimilar elements. The result is a non-narrative art film where fantasy, form and texture merge into a sensory experience.

Amaltaas - املتاس
Xoori K. Sarhadi
Amaltaas is a visual poem about routine, ritual, and the quiet violence of being chosen but never free.
Set in a foreign home, a newly married woman drifts through incense smoke, tea rituals, and beauty masks. The echoes of wedding drums, once celebratory, now linger as a haunting reminder of her displacement, silencing her beneath routines of obedience and appearances.
Through a blend of reality and poetic imagery, Amaltaas becomes a portrait of countless women told to smile, obey, repeat, and quietly disappear.

Constellation Critic
Caitlin Louise Sammon
The film follows a star, named Iris, who creates constellation art. She
constantly tries to impress a black hole art critic, Epsilon Messier,
who, jaded and unimpressed, sucks up all of her work. Each and
every piece she creates he destroys; it climaxes in Messier spitting
up all of her stars as a final way for him to tell her that she'll never be
good enough. Iris, who is becoming jaded herself, takes one of the
stars and, in a last-ditch effort to not lose her artistic spark, throws
the single star up into the sky. Messier sees the single star and
connects with it, and he begins to transform back into a star like Iris.
In the end, Iris hands Messier her paintbrush, and the two paint
together.

Voroboros
Adrian Wood
Life under capitalism feels like eating little parts of myself to survive.
Voroboros (2024) is an experimental short that explores survival under capitalism through self-consumption. A series of vignettes evoke the feeling of eating oneself to survive through myth, emotion, history and biology. Ultimately, the film concludes with visions of life beyond survival.
The first part, eating, explores the myth of Erysichthon from Ovid’s Metamorphoses, who fells the favorite tree of Demeter. Enraged, Demeter sends Famine to infect Erysichthon, who finally resorts to eating his own body.
The second part of the film, being eaten, takes form as a vignette in which dancers at a rave must feed parts of themselves to the speaker in order to keep the music going. If the music stops, they die. The cycle of consumption repeats into infinity.
The third and final part of the film moves in and through these cycles of self-consumption, seeking inspiration from the natural world. The final images attempt to decenter individual suffering by nurturing a relationship with the environment, including the others with whom it is shared.
