Two Roads to Riva
Willliam W. Holland
Solidly based on historical fact, "Two Roads to Riva" tells two parallel but deeply intertwined stories. The first involves JOHN McCOWN, a lieutenant in the World War II U.S. 10th Mountain Division, a unit deployed to Italy in late 1944 with the assignment of breaking through the German “Gothic Line.” The Allied offensive has been stalled there for three months due in large part to artillery observers perched atop supposedly impregnable Riva Ridge. It takes all of McCown’s courage, leadership ability, and prowess as a skier and mountaineer to overcome not only German opposition but the traitorous machinations of his secretly pro-Nazi superior, MAJOR KINZER, and play his pivotal role in the conquest of the ridge, an achievement for which he makes the ultimate sacrifice. A huge motivator is desire to redeem himself in the eyes of his parents for having accidentally killed his fraternal twin.
The second protagonist is Austrian-born Corporal OTTO BERTSCHI. Forced by threats to his family to join the German army, this secretly anti-Nazi and wily squad leader repeatedly finds ways to circumvent the orders of a fanatical superior and avoid taking human life only to wind up being--against his will--a prime agent in the killing of McCown, an American with whom he has so much in common. Following his surrender, he narrowly escapes being executed by G.I.s enraged over McCown’s death thanks to the last-second intervention of HENRY CURTIS, the youngest member of McCown’s five-man reconnaissance team, who persuasively attests to Bertschi's having earlier saved his and McCown's lives during a reconnaissance mission behind German lines.

In the process, they brave lions, hyenas, and scorpions, and cope with grief, human trafficking, murder, spiritual warfare, first-century politics, and travel in the ancient world.

Our Last Prayer
Dan Maysen
When Aldelin Sutton, an economic policy advisor, is summoned to the Vatican for a secret meeting with the Pope, little does she know that the fate of Europe and indeed the world will be placed on her shoulders. The Pope has chosen her to be his emissary for a clandestine meeting with the American Government in an effort to secure safe passage for the thousands of Vatican refugees and to garner military support to turn back the enemy at the gates.
Aldelin, however, never reaches her destination but rather falls into the hands of the ISIS savages as their prisoner. Now, with time running out, the Pope must call on Daniel Canon, the Holy Canon, a mystical figure who answers only to the Holy Father, to rescue Aldelin so she can complete her mission.
Together, they race across a tyrannized Europe that is suffocating under the dark cloud of ISIS. Along the way we are introduced to a number of memorable and exceptional individuals. Among them we meet the beautiful and enchanting Vivien LaLonde, a former French Intelligence agent and the love of Daniel’s life. Tommy O’Rourke, a tough but charming Irishman, Daniel’s former commanding officer during the earlier Terror Wars. He now serves as a guerilla in the underground Free Europe Resistance Movement and may possibly hold the key to helping Aldelin complete her mission.
ISIS has dispatched their Emissary of Butchery, their Princess of Depravity – Suleena Heidari, aka the Persian Death to intercept and annihilate Aldelin and Daniel.
Aldelin realizes that Daniel is … “Our Last Prayer” – that of Christianity and perhaps the whole world. Now with time running out all caution must be thrown to the wind and Daniel has to overcome his own personal agony.
This is a cautionary saga that gives us a glance at one potential future that awaits us if we remain in our current slumber; a pulse pounding journey into the human soul and how the light of freedom must always endure.
UnChristmas in Bethlehem
Dan Maysen
As our story opens, Roman soldiers betray and murder Andrew, the traditional name of the Bethlehem innkeeper, to rob the payroll for a temple construction project. Two shepherd boys, who resemble the Odd Couple, witness the crime. They have night watch duty because they broke camp rules.
To get revenge against Simon, the head shepherd, the boys steal a chest. “Oscar” pawns the empty chest in the market and, in a rare display of chivalry, uses the money to buy a gift for his girlfriend Agatha, who is the daughter of the murdered innkeeper.
At Andrew’s wake, a pharisee reassures the new innkeeper, who is Andrew’s widow, about her future. The two also briefly discuss changes, such as increased military activity due to a census and what the coming Messiah may do. Meanwhile, the shepherd boys have basically the same conversation.
We next meet Mary, who is about 17, and Joseph, who is in his late-20s, for the first time. They’re detained at a checkpoint because they rub a Roman guard the wrong way. Later, the innkeeper stumbles upon the bickering couple and briefly speaks with them about their stay in Bethlehem. The innkeeper gets a special vibe about Mary’s Child. At about the same time, Agatha surreptitiously meets Oscar. They exchange small gifts.

Brimming With Life

'Brimming With Life', was filmed over 6 years in the vast Townships of Cape Town and Soweto, where under Apartheid, "Non-White" South Africans were once excluded.
On the 30th Anniversary of Nelson Mandela ushering in the new South Africa, this independent documentary traces the everyday lives of these resilient, resourceful and spirited families, often held together by the women of their communities, as they try to forge a creative and better life in post Apartheid South Africa.
From shacks, old shipping containers to the first Township-run coffee house, they are opening all kinds of vibrant businesses.
But, in a young and unequal democracy, where a lack of adequate housing and opportunity are still such a great divide, the question is asked, "How do we allow each other to shine?"
To Try to do something about it, for the first time, twenty artists and community workers from the Townships are working alongside the remarkable crew of the Cape Town Carnival. They are on a mission, to try to build a more inclusive nation, for their once-excluded communities and the people of Cape Town.
Earl.
Ty Yong Kim
Earl. profiles the inspiring and complex life of an unknown and brilliant American composer who was born into abject poverty and ascended through grit and determination to teach at Princeton for 15 years, and Harvard for 23 years. Earl Kim (1920-1998) was the third son of Korean immigrants who worked the fields of Dinuba, California. He learned piano from free lessons. Earl eventually studied with three of the most important composers of the modern era: Arnold Schoenberg at UCLA, Ernest Bloch and Roger Sessions at UC Berkeley. Earl's dream of becoming a composer was interrupted by war. He served his country as a US combat intelligence officer in World War II earning the rank of Captain and a sharpshooter. He flew over the ashes of Nagasaki one day after the atomic bomb was dropped exposing himself to massive radiation. Despite his patriotism, Earl faced harsh racism and even threats upon his life by his fellow servicemen. When he returned home, Earl stood up to McCarthyism refusing to sign The Loyalty Oath--and was fired by UC Berkeley as an instructor. He went on to teach at Princeton and Harvard. The lesson is that nothing was ever given to him. Earl would go wherever he had to and find a way to discover his authentic voice as an artist. The film reveals for the first time a meeting between Samuel Beckett and Earl Kim. In 1965, Earl Kim visited Beckett in Paris, and convinced Beckett (who later won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969) to allow the writer's literary texts to be set to the composer's music resulting in an innovative, daring, and startling form of composition that includes chamber music, dance, song, and even film. The director of the film was able to find and negotiate access to audio interviews that had been previously held in private archives. Piecing together Earl's story in Earl's words was like solving a great, big beautiful puzzle. The payoff is that we hear from the composer himself along with rare footage and recordings of Earl performing his own music (including a rehearsal of a composition he called "Illuminations" that was recorded only a few weeks before his death from lung cancer). Today, Earl Kim's music has been compared to giants: Stravinsky, Bartok and master composers of the modern era. Earl's story defies categorization: it crosses boundaries from classical music to politics, education, cultural self-awareness (Earl was married three times, all to women who were white), war, human rights, and even weapons of mass destruction. In 1981, the composer co-founded with his wife, "Musicians Against Nuclear Arms" and ran the organization for four years. Most of all, it is a story of the profound power of music to change lives.

Indonesia's Silent Emergency: Stunting in Rural Populations
Nayla Punjabi, Dabin Choi
Indonesia's Silent Emergency: Stunting in Rural Populations" sheds light on the fundamental issue of stunting and the significant impact it has on individuals, communities, and the nation. Stunting occurs when a child does not receive adequate nutrition in the womb and during the first two years of life, resulting in irreversible physical and cognitive impairments. These children face lifelong challenges, including reduced intelligence and increased susceptibility to illness, as their brains and bodies fail to fully develop.
The documentary focuses on rural communities in East Nusa Tenggara, where stunting rates are alarmingly high due to underdeveloped healthcare systems. Through personal stories, expert interviews, and on-the-ground footage, the film delves into the root causes of stunting, such as poor maternal nutrition, inadequate hygiene and breastfeeding practices, and financial insecurity. Central to the narrative are the mothers, whose voices and experiences take center stage, fostering empathy and understanding among viewers.
The documentary also highlights the commendable efforts of the 1000 Days Fund, an NGO dedicated to combating stunting. This organization trains and equips community health workers, who in turn become key advocates within their own neighborhoods. The film demonstrates that while stunting is a complex issue, the solution lies in empowering local stakeholders. Through this approach, the documentary calls for nationwide action to address stunting—one child, one family, and one community at a time.

Be my double.
Fuyubi Kusamori
A world of silvery white mirrors surrounded by eternal silence. It is a space where the reason of reality seems to have frozen. Fragile butterflies dance upside down like stars falling from the sky, and mysterious flowers bloom and fall from heaven to earth like drops of pearl bathed in moonlight. Like a dreamy ballet in slumber, everything plays poetic movements. The hands of a golden clock move backward into the past, and drops of water like crystals, freed from the shackles of gravity, ascend into the sky in silvery trails. As the girl wanders through this ethereal space, the “other me” emerges as if through the moonlight, clad only in shadow. The two beings quietly cohabit, like shadows rising from the depths of memory. Eventually, the girl's shadow delicately melts away like the fading frost on a spring morning, and the boundary between the two transparent beings melts away. Finally, the two souls become one like dew under the moon, and like in “Butterfly's Dream,” the boundary between dream and reality itself disappears gracefully.

NAMI' DANCE WITH GOD
ETTORE PASCULLI
NAMI' DANCE WITH GOD. Logic can get you from A to B. Imagination, on the other hand, can take you anywhere. Albert Einstein. Israeli digital artist Marina Amadal recently revived an old photo: that of Czeslawa Kwoka, a 14-year-old Polish girl, deported to Awschwitz with her mother in 1942. The photo moved the social-media world for its raw truth, for the innocent beauty and for the tragic fate of the little girl. NAMI' (dance with God) cultivates a great dream: learning to dance, even in a condition of extreme difficulty of living. The discovery of the body through the harmony of movement is for her a way to live and escape from the tragic barbarism to which her mother, like others, are subjected. Between dream and reality she lives like this, a double life. Partly true and partly imaginary. During the day, the little girl helps her mother in the woodshed and at night, secretly, at the prompting of a strange inner voice, she goes to the basement of an old shack, which has always attracted her curiosity about her. There she meets a mysterious and severe character, a dancer who hides from fools and fanatics and who wants to teach her to dance. Through her dance the dancer teaches her much more than how to dance. She conveys to her the thought of freedom that everyone should possess. Unfortunately, however, the harsh reality of the field takes over. Namì's mother falls ill and is taken away in full view of the little girl. Namì doesn't want to dance anymore. She is no longer interested in anything, not even seeing the dancer again. She alone without her mother, when it seems that there is nothing left to do... Perhaps through the imagination she will still be able to explore the mysteries of unknown dimensions? ...
